Ultrasonic imaging has emerged as a pivotal diagnostic tool, widely employed by a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals for numerous clinical applications. With a history spanning over four decades, medical ultrasound imaging has been the go-to diagnostic instrument for sonographers and physicians in diverse fields such as radiology, obstetrics, gynecology, vascular surgery, and cardiology.

In recent years, the use of medical ultrasound has expanded beyond traditional boundaries, extending its reach into the realms of health and education. For instance, rheumatologists have transcended the conventional method of palpation for anatomical assessments. They now leverage ultrasound imaging to precisely guide injections into bursae, joints, and tendons.

Quality Control (QC), a key component of the overarching Quality Assurance (QA) protocol, has gained significant attention in hospital settings, particularly in institutions with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification. Within the QA framework, two distinct levels can be identified: (a) assessment of the equipment’s technical specifications, and (b) evaluation of performance from the user’s perspective. In the context of medical ultrasound, the latter primarily pertains to imaging performance.
