ECU Seeks Experienced Sonographers for Teaching Positions

Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Australia, is actively seeking experienced and qualified individuals in the field of Medical Sonography to join their team as Sessional Tutors/Demonstrators. This opportunity, based at the Joondalup campus, offers flexible hours and competitive rates for academic casuals.

The Medical Sonography program at ECU, initiated in February 2024, forms part of a comprehensive 4-year curriculum accredited by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR). Graduates of this program gain essential expertise in applied anatomy, physiology, ultrasound imaging systems, patient care, critical thinking, occupational health, infection control, and professional practice.

To be eligible for these teaching positions, candidates must hold ASAR accreditation as Medical Sonographers, possess a minimum of five years of post-qualification clinical experience, and demonstrate proficiency in the Professional Competency Framework for Sonographers. Additionally, applicants should have experience in training student sonographers, stay updated on ultrasound technology advancements, and excel in teaching scanning skills to novice learners.

Successful candidates will be responsible for instructing students in various aspects of sonography, including safe ultrasound system usage, relational anatomy, scanning techniques, psychomotor skills, pathology recognition, clinical case discussions, practical assessments, and grading. Moreover, the role entails fostering a collaborative learning environment, adhering to safety regulations, and promoting inclusivity among a diverse student population.
